Author: civilised cycling
I have been cycling in London for nearly 25 years, and use my bike exhaustively, I average at about 150-200 km a week computing for work and leisure. I became disillusioned with the types of bicycles and accessories commonly available in the UK some time ago. So my blog was started as a means to try and improve both the quality of products available and the aesthetics of the cycling experience itself, which in my opinion has not been taken seriously enough. The few ‘alternative’ shops either sell fixies for hipsters or 'cargo bikes', and recumbants, along with a hand full of places that make stupidly expensive racing bikes for city workers with more money than common sense. This is my first blog on a subject that means a lot to me. I am a cyclist, so I am a road user, yet every day I am reminded one way or another that I am not a 'serious' road user. Yet for 25 years I have moved around London streets safely, efficiently, and cheaply. This blog as a starting point for those interested making cycling in London an attractive, aesthetic and comfortable experience.....ie CIVILISED.
