Four Phases Zheng Ensemble 四象文創

The leading ensemble Four Phases was established in 2008, Four Phases Ensemble have a reputation for championing both traditional and modern music within publicly engaging spaces. Their members are leaders in their fields and the group regularly work with living contemporary composers and their projects and concerts have met with much critical acclaim.  They are named after “Taiji, Taijisheng, and two instruments.” The combination of yin and yang can form four images, namely Yin, Yang, Lao, and Shao. It can also be used to represent the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter, which symbolizes the inclusiveness and diversity of the music and art of this group.

They have produced numerous concerts including:  Zheng yue pien pien at the Lin Jiansheng Memorial Library in 2013 and in the same year National Music KaleidoscopeZheng Qi Douyan at Feng Chia University in Taichung.  Zheng Change  (Zhongshan Hall),  and Jing Shan Mei (at Xingtian Temple) in 2015. They participated in the Xinzhuang Drum Art Festival in New Taipei City in 2015 and and produced the concert Jing Shan Mei at Xingtian Temple in the same year. In 2017 they performed a concert at the Taipei Film House, and produced a concert at the Wenshui Arts and Cultural Center. In 2018 they performed at the opening ceremony of the Lugu International Music and Arts Festival held at Zhongshan Hall. In 2009 Four Phases were invited by Beijing to participate in the Beijing Guzheng Music Festival in a special Taiwanese concert which was approved and sponsored by the Taipei Municipal Government Cultural Bureau, and in 2011 they performed at the International Flower Expo in Taipei. The group were subsequently selected for the Taipei Traditional Art Festival (considered one of the most important traditional arts festivals in the Asia region) four years running 2011-2014 and again in 2018, which enabled the production of a high profile annual concert series including:
